This sewing kit makes one Owl
This adorable Owl is part of the Squashy Posse - a range of fabulous characters designed to encourage children from 8+ to get sewing!
This project is entirely sewn by hand, so provides a wonderful experience to take on holiday, sew in the garden, or curl up on the sofa with. The finished Owl is free-standing so looks lovely perched on a shelf.
You can choose from two sewing styles, or mix and match your stitches. The basic version uses Running Stitch - a very easy stitch for children and beginners. The intermediate option is to use Whipstitch. Look at the photos carefully and you'll notice two different styles! I've included a clear visual guide in the kit so you can choose which you prefer. The different options make this kit an enjoyable sew for any age.
I have been teaching children to sew for many years and have designed this range of kits to teach very simple sewing techniques to beginners and children. Everything needed for the project is included, and designed to make the lives of parents as easy as possible!
You'll find high quality felt, beautiful DMC embroidery threads (on a cute Dachshund bobbin!), glittery eyes, pins and a needle, and plenty of stuffing.
The pattern is printed on freezer paper, which is a sewing crafter's best friend! Simply iron the pieces onto the felt and cut through the paper and felt together.
There is an abundance of guidance and information, including a copy of my 'Learn to sew with felt' guide and step by step illustrated project instructions.
The instructions include a section filled with advice on how best to teach your child to sew, and what to expect along the way.
The only item you'll need to hand is a nice sharp pair of scissors. In the guidance I recommend that adults do the cutting! You can find scissors here.
Finished size when sewn: 12 x 6cms
